Stomping Grounds
Kickers are linking up with Save our Scene to protect the U.K.’s grassroots music scene
Recent research shows that 37% of clubs have closed in Britain is just the last 4 years with 125 closures in the last year alone. This trend has significant risks for the future of live music. Kickers are honouring their heritage of proximity to British youth culture by linking up with Save Our Scene to produce a number of gigs across the U.K. in a multi-year event series called Stomping Grounds which kick off this Thursday 14th November with Hak Baker's performance at his personal stomping ground in East London at Spotlight community centre, ending the night with a gig at The Windmill in Brixton. Tickets will be on a first come first served basis and cost a £1 donation into a pint glass. Kickers iconic Kick Hi boot has been rocked by 70s icons like the Stone Roses, Britpop and Indie icons like Liam Gallagher noughties legends Ms Dynamite, Mike Skinner and So Solid Crew and more recently Hak Baker, Eliza and Skepta whose recent MAINS show featured the model for its catwalk looks. As well as featuring headline artists the Stomping Grounds will also showcase local talent, giving up and coming musicians an opportunity to gig and break bread with more established mainstays. Kickers have pledged to donate to Save Our Scene's charity partners Music Venue Trust which will go towards protecting grassroots venues and the ecosystem.
